Stamp Collecting Clubs

Because stamp collecting is such a popular hobby, there are thousands of stamp collecting clubs all over the world. Some are small local clubs where collectors bond with each other over stamps. There are even national organizations for stamp collectors. With the advent of the Internet, there are many stamp collectors who meet with one another on the web.

Local stamp collecting clubs generally meet once a month. Often these clubs meet at the local recreation center or a senior citizen center. Stamp collectors meet to share their collections. Because only a stamp collector can really appreciate another person’s collection, hobbyists enjoy sharing their precious collections. Another aspect of the meeting is that the collectors research certain stamp collecting problems or newsworthy events and present their findings to the group.

Stamp collecting clubs are also great places to trade stamps. Members bring their collections and offer some of their precious stamps for trade or for money. If members have stamps that they no longer need or stamps that don’t fit their particular interests anymore, they can help other members complete their collections with a simple trade.

Perhaps a member has a really unusual stamp he want to sell. A stamp collecting club is he perfect place to sell because everyone there may either want the stamp or know someone else who does. In fact, buying, selling, and trading are some of the reasons members join a stamp collecting club.

Another great reason to join a stamp collecting club is to learn from the more experienced collectors. Because a novice can make many mistakes when he first starts collecting, the more mature stamp collectors can help to guide him so that he doesn’t make rookie mistakes. Even if the novice isn’t collecting as an investment, he doesn’t want to waste money buying poor quality stamps. The experienced stamp collectors really enjoy helping the younger ones. They love sharing their expertise with others. Everyone loves to be the expert at least once in a while.

Sometimes stamp collecting clubs provide socialization for collectors who are retired or lonely. These clubs give these members a chance to visit and socialize with other collectors. Sometimes club members have socials and invite non collectors for their parties.

There are thousands of stamp collecting clubs around the world. These happy hobbyists get a chance to share their love of stamps with one another and just have good clean fun.
